Drone Almost Crashes Into Helicopter

A terrifying video was recently posted on YouTube of a drone almost crashing into a helicopter in Florida. The footage starts off innocently enough, but suddenly out of nowhere, a helicopter passes underneath the drone nearly colliding with it. The helicopter crew was lucky that they didn’t crash into the drone as the results could have been deadly to those on board and anyone below.

The video was recently posted on August, 16th, by Masih Persian, but he has since taken the original video down. But while it was up, other news stations have reuploaded it to their channels. Masih was trying out his Mavic Pro, filming the coastline condominiums when during one of his pans, a black dot appears on the screen. It’s not clear whether or not Masih spotted the helicopter approaching for the fact that it was moving extremely fast.

This is definitely a near collision as it looks like the drone was not more than a few feet away from the helicopter.  Masih has since commented about the video and expressed his relief that there was not a collision, considering, how close things came.

The video shows us how important it is to be aware of everything around you while flying drones. Literally within a few seconds, everything can change.  It’s a scenario that leaves a pilot with virtually no time to respond in order to get out of the way. Thankfully no one was harmed and hopefully others will learn from this video.
