DJI’s Mavic 4 Pro is Their Most Powerful Drone Yet
Dà-Jiāng Innovations, better known as DJI, is the world’s largest drone manufacturer. In an ever-growing industry, competitors struggle to keep up with DJI’s product lineup. The company’s superior technology, marketing strategies, product availability, easy to use models, and budget-friendly options set DJI far above any other drone manufacturer. Out of the thousands of drone manufacturers worldwide, DJI controls an estimated 70-80% of the global drone market.
On April 22, 2023, DJI released the Mavic 3 Pro, a lightweight, easy-to-use drone with unmatched filming capabilities and a 43-minute flight time. Depending on accessory configurations, the drone retails anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000. This hefty price range marked a significant change for much of DJI’s consumer products, although sales of the Mavic 3 Pro still skyrocketed. To compensate for those who could not afford the Mavic 3 Pro, DJI released the DJI Air 3S on October 15, 2024, retailing between $1,000 and $2,000.
Positioned as an all around drone for professionals and amateurs alike, the DJI Air 3S compares to the Mavic series in many of its functions, only with a dual rather than triple camera system. The success of both drones propelled DJI to further innovate, a milestone they marked with the launch of their latest model, the Mavic 4 Pro, on May 13, 2025. Retailing at $2,700 to $4,650, the Mavic 4 Pro is DJI’s most expensive and most technologically advanced consumer photography drone to date.
Like its predecessor, the Mavic 4 Pro has a triple-lens Hasselblad camera system, foldable wings, and is light enough to avoid many of the restrictions placed on heavier commercial drones. What truly sets this drone apart, however, is the superiority of the camera quality and the unique gimbal housing it. DJI’s slogan for the Mavic 4 Pro is “Spin your world,” which perfectly captures the possibilities the drone’s camera gimbal presents.
The perfectly stabilized gimbal sits at the head of the drone’s body and has a 360-degree range of motion. This allows the camera’s three lenses to capture 4K videos at a tilt of 165-160, a roll of 90-450, and a pan of 22-22 for some of the most creative and captivating cinematic opportunities. Along with the excellence in filming options, the Mavic 4 Pro boasts a slew of other impressive features for safety and ease of use.
Along the perimeter of the drone are a series of obstacle avoidance sensors. The drone also uses LiDAR to navigate safely, even in low-light environments. This means the drone can fly swiftly and navigate complex courses, all while smoothly tracking a subject. The drone has a maximum speed of 55 mph with a flight time of 51 minutes. DJI even took into consideration the battery size of this drone, ensuring that they are powerful enough for extended flight time while still being small enough to meet airport travel safety regulations.
A new controller was introduced to coincide with the Mavic 4 Pro, called the DJI RC Pro 2. It has a 7-inch screen attached to an arm. The arm is also connected to the controller’s joysticks, so when the screen is folded down for storage, the joysticks automatically collapse as well. This is just another convenience that DJI made sure to pay attention to for customer satisfaction. However, there is one major flaw with the Mavic 4 Pro.
Due to uncertainties imposed by the Trump administration, such as shifting stances on tariffs and a possible ban on DJI products, the Mavic 4 Pro will not be available in the United States. “Like many global companies, we have had to adjust our market strategy as local conditions and the industry environment have evolved,” a representative from DJI stated. “While we do not have a timeline for when we can introduce the product to the US market, we are closely monitoring the situation and actively exploring every possible solution.” Additionally, DJI advises US customers not to purchase the drone abroad and bring it into the country, as it will not be covered by the DJI limited warranty.
Despite growing global competition and political hurdles, DJI continues to set the benchmark for innovation in the drone industry. With each new release, the company pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in consumer aerial technology, delivering cutting-edge performance, creative flexibility, and thoughtful design. While the Mavic 4 Pro may currently be out of reach for U.S. consumers, DJI’s global dominance and relentless pursuit of excellence will not be slowing down at any time soon.
