Drone Video Captures Tornado Ripping Off Roof Near Georgetown, Indiana

On Tuesday, April 2, 2024 drone footage captured a tornado in southern Indiana causing massive damage.  Captured by the drone cameras of the Chicago and Midwest Storm Chasers, at 1pm a tornado can be seen making its way near Georgetown, Indiana.

The footage captures the tornado as it tears apart sections of a building. According to the storm chasers, their footage captured the moment a roof was torn off and thrown about 100 feet away.

Reports also came in from Evansville, Indiana, about wind damage earlier in the day, leading to extensive power outages throughout the region.

The National Weather Service’s damage survey teams are set to evaluate the extensive damage.  An estimated 70+ million individuals were under threat of severe thunderstorms on Tuesday, with the storms expected to continue into Wednesday.  Tornado watches have also been issued for parts of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio.
