Building on that foundation, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has now announced its latest move, the integration of drones into traffic and security operations. The drones being introduced are part of a new generation of unmanned aerial vehicles capable of providing real-time aerial oversight of Lagos’s busiest corridors. Mr. Bakare-Oki emphasized that the initiative is designed not only to modernize traffic tools but also to redefine how data and technology guide decision-making in Lagos. He further explained, “This transition transcends the mere acquisition of equipment; it embodies a strategic reformation that positions LASTMA at the forefront of digital governance in traffic management. These drones will provide real-time aerial oversight, enabling swifter interventions, improved safety outcomes, augment emergency response coordination, bolster security frameworks, and the cultivation of a more disciplined motoring culture.”
