New Drone Standards Could Revolutionize UK Industries
The drone industry is set to revolutionize British industries and help to transform different sectors such as agriculture, transportation, medicine, and many more. Sometime in spring this year, the UK government is set to unveil the new standard for drone use. It will cover many topics that will help grow confidence in the use of drones in respect to safety and compliance.
Sir David Brown of the British Standards Institution (BSI) stated that the new standards will increase innovation, promote safety and consumer protection, boost productivity and enable trade. He also added that the development and adoption of these standards will make the drone industry grow rapidly; just like it is doing in other parts of the world.
The drone industry is estimated to be $100 billion by 2020 and their hope is that Britain will be one of the world’s leaders in this industry. Some technology experts believe that the $100 billion estimate is a conservative amount and the potential growth will be much higher Anil Nanduri of Intel is one of these experts. He believes that the drone industry has more prospects and potential than $100 billion dollars by 2020. Anil believes that drones are destined to be much more than what they are today and that the industry will be driven by commercial and civil government sectors.
He gave examples of how drones were being used worldwide. For example in Japan, farmers are using drones for precision irrigation. They also use it to fertilize, spray pesticides and inspect crops. A Scottish based company uses drones to inspect oil and gas installation which reduces safety risks and the downtime of the equipment being inspected.
We have seen drones being used in many applications across various industries. We currently see drones being used for rescue missions and to study the environment. They are being used for commercial purposes as well as to boost industrialization. Anil is not the only professional who sees the massive change that drones will create in the UK. Robert Gabbert, the CEO, and founder of John Major Group also believes that the drone industry will revolutionize UK businesses in many ways than what we see today. He explained how drones will change the way freight is moved and create more opportunities for businesses throughout the country.
