Polaroid Launches 4 Budget Friendly Drones
Polaroid recently released four new drones to commemorate the company’s 80th anniversary. The Polaroid-branded camera drones come in different sizes and technical specifications: PL1000, PL1300, PL2900, and the PL3000. The four camera drones are what the drone industry is referring to as “budget drones.” This means that their low price point will suit many consumers. The new Polaroid drones cost only a few hundred dollars when compared to other more expensive drones in the market today. But don’t let the price fool you. The term ‘budget’ doesn’t mean that they are low quality. In reality, these drones are the perfect entry-level camera drones for the budget-conscious consumer or young novice who is excited about owning a drone for aerial photography.
The PL2900 is a quadcopter featuring Polaroid’s iconic rainbow stripes and is available for only $299. It is equipped with a 720P HD camera and Wi-Fi for streaming live footage directly to your Apple or Android smartphone. A six-axis gyroscope system is used to stabilize the video. Flight time is up to 10 minutes with speeds of up to 16mph. Polaroid PL1000 also comes at a great price point but with a shorter 7-minute flight time and speeds up to 20mph. The design is different and the drone is equipped with sporting prop guards and a red exterior.
The Polaroid PL3000 is a smaller version of the PL2900. The design is the same, but with a smaller rounder body. It has the same 10-minute flight time and a two-speed setting of up to 20mph. This drone is $50 cheaper because of the smaller exterior. The last is a truly budget drone the Polaroid PL1300. At only $50, the small size means that it can only carry a 480p resolution video camera. Flight time is up to six minutes and it comes with a three-speed setting, with a max of 20 mph.
At these prices, they are great entry-level drones and will suit those who are wary of spending a lot of money on a drone. In fact, they are listed under toys on Amazon.com. The drones are sold with a 60-day warranty and free replacement plastic parts for a year. This means that if the propeller or any other plastic parts break, it will only cost you shipping and handling to replace them. The new drones will be available for shipment from October 7th this year and can also be purchased from Target and Brookstone.
